MINGA FESTIVAL is a platform for innovative encounters through "crash-performance." The name comes from Quechua and means "communal action toward a collective goal."
The heart of the festival is the spontaneous encounter: professional musicians from diverse cultures and backgrounds cross paths for the first time to create something entirely new. Without having met beforehand, the artists are challenged to communicate without borders over an intense week of work — that's the festival's true nerve.
In its seventh edition, MINGA FESTIVAL VII pushes past traditional boundaries to create new musical universes where improvisation and cultural exchange take center stage. The result isn't free improvisation on stage, but an express creative process — meeting, rehearsing at full speed, and composing an entirely new repertoire — presented live across a series of gatherings throughout the Gothenburg region. It's, in essence, a tribute to the unexpected and to shared creation.

The festival unfolds across four gatherings between September 20 and 27, 2026, closing with the duo concerts and all six artists together on stage at Kulturhuset Bergsjön.
