Jonathan Sandqvist is a unique bassoonist, composer, and improviser from Skellefteå, currently based in Gothenburg. During his master's studies in Oslo, he explored the sound possibilities of the instrument's individual parts, developing groundbreaking playing techniques for the bassoon.
Despite his classical background, Jonathan focuses primarily on rhythmic, jazz-influenced, and freely improvised music — when he isn't performing with some of Sweden's top orchestras or ensembles like Tord Vargas Trio, GORA, Kentaro Ragert Kvintett, and Emil Miszk "Modulaire". His music is driven by a deep curiosity for sound, timbre, energy, and emotional expression.
